Regional Planning

Imperial Calcasieu Regional Planning and Development District (IMCAL) is designated by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) as the regional economic development office for Southwest Louisiana.

The Imperial Calcasieu region is located in the Southwestern part of Louisiana. Our regional economic and community development planning office provides support to Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis.

We work also with the Cities, towns, and villages within those parishes aforementioned in economic and community development planning. In this capacity, IMCAL continues to seek ways to develop partnerships and cultivate creative ideals that will strengthen our regional planning process.

It is our belief that a strong regional planning office will yield a strong region.

We work through partnerships, local and parish governments seeking to help create jobs, support a stable and diversified regional economy, and improve living conditions and prosperity for residents throughout the region.

The IMCAL region was designated an Economic Development District (EDD) by the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration.

Developing a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) is a prerequisite for most Economic Development Administration (EDA) planning programs.

The key to a good CEDS is an ongoing, participatory planning process that includes input from a steering committee and where possible, the committee should represent the major interests of the community.
